US President Donald Trump said he saved the country whose leader received the Nobel Peace Prize, hinting that he was eligible for the award.

"I will talk to you about the Nobel Peace Prize ... I made a deal and saved a country, then I heard that the president of that country received the Nobel Peace Prize for saving the country," Trump told a gathering of supporters in Ohio as part of his campaign.

Trump added that he "prevented a major war."

Trump did not mention Ethiopia or its Prime Minister Abi Ahmed by name, but he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 after the signing of the peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea in July 2018. Trump also did not congratulate Abu Ahmed on receiving the Nobel Peace Prize,

It should be noted that the peace agreement was brokered by the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, while the role of the United States was very limited in it.

Trump has already spoken of deserving of this award
